Walk to School Week Inspires Maths Learning in KS1

By Julie St Clair Hoare - 1 Mar 2019

Every year in May thousands of children join in the five day walking challenge 'Walk to School Week' organised by Living Streets.

This year take the opportunity to celebrate children's walking achievements in your classroom, and use the challenge as a jumping off point to discuss happiness, health and wellbeing. Plus, get your children to take part in daily maths activities directly linked to the challenge!

Walk to School Week for Key Stage 1

Our KS1 cross-curricular topic is organised around the days of the week. Over the course of the week children will create block diagrams showing different methods of commuting to school, sequence events in chronological order and practise interpreting data.

In addition, there is the opportunity to consider different footwear and its purpose, think about road safety, and carry out a traffic survey.
