Hamilton's E-Safety and Digital Citizenship mini-topics for key stage 1 and upper key stage 2 are just the ticket to put together a single activity or a whole week's worth sessions to help your children make good choices on-line.

Our short key stage 1 topic uses a rainbow structure helps children begin to understand the complex on-line world of opportunities with each colour linked to a key aspect of internet safety:

• on-line opportunities,
• how to have positive experiences on-line,
• identifying trust-worthy sites,
• protecting personal information,
• safe passwords,
• seeking help with on-line concerns.

Children review the 5 sessions by becoming internet agony aunts or uncles and writing an e-safety song to sum up their learning.

Our short key stage 2 topic has 5 separate sessions which can be taught individually or pulled together with the framework of designing and making a cyber-safety board game that covers the following key areas:

• cyber-bullying and the consequences and outcomes,
• privacy settings and keeping passwords safe,
• the potential pitfalls of sharing photographs and videos,
• ‘Think before you send’,
• emojis,
• hidden costs of app usage and in-app purchasing.

Children can review everything they have learned in a final plenary activity by inviting guests into the classroom to play their cyber-safety game.
